Dentsply AH 26 is an epoxy-resin-based root canal sealer widely used in endodontic dentistry. It is designed for the permanent obturation (sealing) of root canals, typically used in combination with gutta-percha points to ensure a fluid-tight seal.

Properties

• It adapts closely to the root canal walls, minimizing microleakage and preventing bacterial re-entry.
• AH 26 exhibits very low volumetric shrinkage during polymerisation and has extremely low solubility in tissue fluids.
• It is highly visible on X-rays (radiopaque), allowing dentists to clearly evaluate the quality and depth of the root canal filling.
• It is eugenol-free and acrylic-free. It has historically been available in a silver-containing version and a silver-free version. The silver-free version is preferred to avoid the risk of tooth discoloration.
• Complete removal by rinsing thanks to its completely water-soluble formulation.
